Prices of 64M DRAM chips slide to $6
Prices of 64M DRAM chips continued a downward streak, dropping to the $6 level at international spot markets yesterday.

According to industry sources, 8M x 8 PC-100, the core 64M DRAM chip, was traded between $6.85-7.26, the lowest since mid 1999.

The price has continued to fall since last October when they were traded at around $12. The price is expected to stay on the weak side during the off-season until March.

Experts said chipmakers will feel increasing cost pressure as the price is heading for the level close to production cost.
