I recall that someone on this thread was talking about an options play on ETEK. I did some DD and opened a position in ETEK Apr 230 calls over the last 2 days. The deal is 1.1 JDSU shares for each ETEK share so if it were to go through today, the ETEK stock would be worth $238. This 15% discount seems unusually high to me (or maybe someone knows something I don't). Also, with the Aprils you get the JDSU stock split in March. I know the deal has a do or die date of Oct. 31 and I know that there is a $350MM walk away fee.

My question is, does anyone know when the deal is EXPECTED to close or when ETEK shareholders meet to approve (which should be a formality given the value it has created)?

jill....i cannot tell a lie....have not been following glw....

it looks good, appears a bit more upside, worth watching as it has good underlying fundamentals....

i tend to follow a core of stocks, about five or so, add or subtract to the core when an issue can no longer generate monthly premium revenues. sometimes the less volatile ones give steady low risk returns of about 4% per month.
