My maid absolutely refuses to touch my silver. She makes catty comments when she dusts around it, like "You KNOW if you don't polish this, it will eat the finish right off." I polished it before CHristmas and she asked me if I intended to wait until the next millennium to do it again.
I said, That soon?
She says I don't pay her enough to ruin her nails. She just got back from a cruise-- I kid you not. And my hairdresser of only one name lives in a million dollar home that gets written up in magazines.

People really do live amazing lifestyles. Once I was at a Symphony League brunch, and my committee was in charge of the food that day so we were there early. The home was unbelievable. There was this enormous concert grand in the living room, playing- although no one was sitting at it. And as we were setting out the dishes in the dining room, the owner glanced out onto the patio and screamed for the butler.
"There's dirt on that table out there!" she pointed, finger almost shaking with horror. I looked out and saw a glass-topped coffee table-- it had a faint film on it. This is OUTSIDE in January.
In a minute the butler appeared outside with a bottle of WIndex and towels and begin cleaning the table carefully, while she watched eagle-eyed for any missed spots.

And people think WE don't have lives???

Oh, I don't think so. Democracy has gotten so bad in the US that Old Family retainers are suing for Servamony, on the theory that the master and the butler are long-lost brothers. In palimony suits, the live-in girlfriends who gave up careers as movie extras to keep house and make sex with the master are demanding back pay at the rates really first class call girls charge. Worst of all, the neglected children of slaves are suing for retroactive child support from their slave masters. New DNA work will be used to prove that mulatto kids deserve a piece of all those Southern mansions. Makes me feel safer that the scallawags and carpet baggers stole all my great grand pappies' vast unearned wealth.
I think it shall be proved that the rich (who seem to have all the money) owe it to poor (who have all the righteousness. When it is all straightened out, and the former rich are righteous, and the former poor are rich (less governments 46% cut) that we preferred the poor when they righteous and the former rich when they were rich.
