Nikon's First Three Megapixel Digital Camera Bundled with Lexar Media's USB Enabled Digital Film

PMA 2000

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 2000-- Nikon's Ultra High-Resolution Digital Camera Takes Advantage of

Lexar's High-Performance Digital Film

Lexar Media today announced an agreement with Nikon to provide Lexar-branded 16MB USB enabled CompactFlash digital film cards with the new Nikon 990, the company's first three-megapixel digital camera.

The Nikon 990 is one of the highest resolution digital cameras announced, and surpasses the three-megapixel barrier to create high-quality images that can be enlarged beyond 8" x 10".

"We are pleased to offer Lexar's premium brand of digital film with our high-performance digital camera," said William Giordano, National Marketing Manager, Nikon USA. "The combination of Nikon 990's high-resolution and Lexar's fast USB enabled digital film creates an ideal solution that gives savvy photographers the flexibility and performance they have come to expect from Nikon."

"The Nikon 990 is leading the next generation of three megapixel digital cameras," said John Reimer, President and CEO of Lexar Media. "As image resolution increases, so does the resulting file size, which means that write-speed of the digital film will become increasingly important to photographers. Lexar digital film cards are designed for fast write speeds. Like Nikon, Lexar is working hard to offer innovative products and solutions to photographers who demand the best."

In the professional photography channel, Lexar plans to offer USB-enabled CompactFlash digital film cards in 80, 128 and 160MB capacities. A JumpShot USB cable is included with each digital film card.

Transfer Images Quickly and Easily

With Lexar's USB-enabled CompactFlash digital film, transferring photos to the desktop computer is a quick and simple process. The photographer removes the USB-enabled digital film card from the camera, slips it in to the JumpShot cradle and plugs the other end of the cable into the USB port of the PC or Macintosh computer. The operating system immediately recognizes the digital film card as another drive, and the photo images appear as individual files. The photos can then be transferred by dragging and dropping them to the computer's hard drive.
