There are lots of profitable businesses but that doesn't mean one company should try to be in all of them. I've never believed in conglomerates and although Microelectronics is not completely divorced from LU's core business, it is probably not necessary to be in that business as that is a huge business all on it's own. It's like a car company who also manufactures airplanes -- yes there are some synergy but does anyone expect Ford to merge with Airbus or Boeing any time soon?
