I'm one of these folks that expects almost anything to happen in the short-term, but over the long-term I tend to expect things to return to their historical averages. I am burdened by my engineering degree (expectations of a logical world) and my finance degree (under the delusion that with enough math and charts I can actually make sense of the world) As long as we are having fun and making money, that's OK with me !
