yz,

here is a url from raging bull via yahoo for the complete prudential analyst report. as you can see the issue of 4th quarter earnings is dealt with explicitly.

i have followed this company closely for 2 years and strongly support the sense of this report. i believe that the purchase of lyte came from a desire to vertically expand the company. however in the process axti got stuck with some consumer products they didn't want and which turned out to have quality control problems that caused them to miss earnings last quarter and will slow them down a bit through q1 2000. what they really were after was led technology to enable them to get involved in what promises to be a very hot area in the next couple of years and beyond. the real holy grail is the production of white light which would, for starters, allow the replacement of the incandescent (and flourescent?) light bulb with a much more energy efficient light source. to get to white light, have to go through blue, which is the next step. red is already here, being used in traffic signals, car turning signals, etc. meanwhile, axti continues to produce high quality substrates in their core operation. their r&d, business execution etc. appear to be strong, and future development promising. what i am struggling with is trying to assess what is likely to happen in the short term - ie, next two weeks - assuming a less than glowing earnings report. should i wait through it or try to sell and buy around it?
