So far, Cree's SiC based Blue LED's are no better nor cheaper than the competition's. I believe SiC is a superior material to build blue LED's on, but Cree must provide it in larger than 2 or 3 inch boules to be price competitive. presently cree's bright blue's sell for about 1/2 the cost of sapphire based. they are smaller (better for handhelds). they are much easier to design with because of the connections. cree recently demonstrated a 4" crystal and said 10-12" are quite possible. your turn.

So far, Cree's SiC based Blue LED's are no better nor cheaper than the competition's. guy, i do a lot of research..but i do not have all the answers. i come to the threads looking for info. in exchange i share what i have found. but i have no desire to nor will i participate in semantics or wordsmithing games. don't need any peeing contests either. this exchange began when you made the statement in italics above. i challenged it. you challenged me. you may be a genius...you may be a light and LED expert. but i know for a fact that you cannot substantiate your statement. there is a very simple way to keep from taking up bandwidth on this thread over my posts...at the bottom of this message you will see a little ignore this person button..click on it and you will make me disappear. unclewest
