i know this might sound like a silly question......

for those of us who have been following softbank, waiting for a time to buy.......

do you think it will follow the u.s. market down with interest rate rise, or will it be more likely to follow japanese politics.

i want to buy soon but want to do it at the best price, of course.

I'm wondering if these Frankfurt shares are somewhat like an ADR here in the US but with an underlying single share of 9984 bascking up each share that is traded in Frankfurt.

They could be like ADRs or, more likely, they are just a different class of ordinary shares that are listed (only) in Frankfurt. With ADRs the underlying shares are held at a depositary and you just trade the "receipts" on the exchange -- the "deposited" shares are the same as the regular thing. If you look at some of the ADRs of Euro companies there is usually no price difference with the back-home shares worth getting excited about. As long as trading limits remain in Tokyo I guess there will be price discrepancies between the two SB classes simply because the price movement of one is restricted and that of the other is not; compounded by one time zone trying to anticipate what the other time zone will do the next day!
