David, tekboy, thank you for your responses...

I do see that there is precious little in the PR release that says anything interesting. However, I did notice some things. First, IBAS does NOT say that it is going to offer this as far as the VOIP is concerned. It seems that they are relegating themselves to the peripheral services of fax, voice messages etc., which is pretty much second base. This seems to establish and acknowledge their position as secondary contestants as far as the true potential of discontinuous technology - VoIP is concerned.

Here is where I see ITXC as dominant and as being a potential Gorilla - considering today's reports - the industry has centered itself around the specs that ITXC has developed. It is a discontinuous technology solely in that the Internet is a discontinuous technology, driving the costs etc. down to miniscule. ITXC has their routing technology that is proprietary and that has just become a standard.

The problem is that this is no longer in their control, or at least it seems so, and there seems to be no barriers to entry as far as any other, T comes to mind, telephony companies are concerned to exploit the technology and the standard... From what I understand, ITXC surrendered its web site etc. to the IMTC authority - BUT I have seen NO reference of it surrendering it's patents - IF IT HAD ANY - to it....

I would be VERY interested in learning if the patents that it holds do or do not give it control over the open standards that ITXC espouses.

Perhaps, some of you here can answer this question....

Regards....

Dave what do you think about ITXC announcing a split tomorrow? It seems to be holding strong, a split announcement would easily get them to a 116 range the first day with more to follow, increase shares for institutional use and probably reduce the volatiliy a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if they do this tomorrow. Although we probably would have seen more of a run-up this week. They advanced results to compete with IBAS and because they know things are shaping up nicely.
