~OT~....jazzcat2000 & mtnlady.....A Tahoe story...

<<mtnlady...I've been going to Lake Tahoe for 51 years(I was 3months old the 1st trip). The mountain air, especially the smell of the Pine Trees, makes it happen for me. Have a vacation home at Northstar. Wish I was there now. Take a breath for me.>>

You are spending time in a VERY beautiful part of the world. I grew up in Michigan but have been fortunate to have vacationed in the Lake Tahoe area a number of times. My first trip to Northstar was in the spring of 1985 with one of my best friends from college. It was a most unusual trip. How often do you head out on spring break on a lear jet..?? That was not normal for me at that time. My friend's father was an executive with a large lumber company from the northwest (at that time for some reason the company also happened to own Northstar-at-Tahoe). We skied at Schweitzer in Idaho for a few days and then flew to California. My friend's family was very generous and quite down to earth. Yet, we did not take off on vacation in 'a normal way.' My friend's father had business in California and took us on the company jet right to Truckee, CA....We met the General Manager of Northstar and received some lift passes and access to a company condo on the slopes. All we had to do was ski hard and buy our meals...!! We had a week of perfect weather -- sunny and in the high 40s every day -- ideal spring skiing and hiking. Wow, it sure was tough to get back to 'the real world' and return to college to study <G>....

I have also visited the Tahoe area a few times with my cousins who now live in San Francisco. They really love to ski at Squaw Valley. Lake Tahoe is truly a special place.

Now when I go skiing with friends or relatives 'I have to rough it' (with a little help from United Airlines and a rented condo)....oh well, I guess that helps you appreciate some of those special opportunities <G>...

Have a great weekend.

Best Regards,

Scott
