If you are driving stop by Islamorada at Holiday Isles. Very relaxing resort area. Has two or three of everything. Nice boating area, fun bands, bars, A great place to relax. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours south on A1A. If you are going all the way down to Key West find Duval St. and follow the crowd. I have stayed at Ocean Key House and the Pier House Resort. In season prices were 125 to 375 for a 2 bed room suite. A few years ago. Ocean Key House Phone 1800-328-9815. Over looks Mallory Square where everyone goes to watch the sunset. Key West about 4 hours from Miami. Holiday Isles is about 1/2 way good night stopover on the way down. weekends always the best in the keys.

Tripping to Miami and the Keys for the next week, anyone have any pointers

hi dutch,
coming to my neighborhood eh!

i suggest going to islamorada (about 25 miles past key largo) for some fishing. best place to drink beer in islamorada is the lor-e-lei...great sunsets too.
for honey points, stop at the holiday inn marina on key largo for a peek at the boat from the movie african queen. my honey thinks that is romantic.

skip key west right now...too crowded this time of year and the streets are tore up...redoing sewers again. if you do go to key west..the best restaurant in town imo is louie's back porch, make reservations...if the weather is ok, get an outside table.

if you go south of seven-mile bridge (awesome drive..do it), try to find the no-name bar on big pine key, for some great pizza, fried chicken and cold beer.

don't forget to try some conch fritters and stone crab somewhere.

listening to the lake tahoe chat too. i lived in incline village before moving here...geez i am lucky.

have a great trip,
unclewest

ps...do the keys first...you may skip miami...in miami ya gotta have dinner at joe's crab house...ask any local where it is.
