"Tough Toenails!" Getting the Europeans to pay Q for CDMA is about as pleasant a project as getting the French to let in more American movies! It is war to the knife, and will go on for years. We will probably have setbacks along the way.

All you can do with these people is give them the "Patton" treatment. "Hold them by the hair and kick them in the testicles!"

That may be true in the short/intermediate term, but I am heartened by Bell Mobility Canada's successful roll out of PCS/CDMA in the Montreal area. The project began back in 1998 and is now coming to fruition.

Who said Canadians aren't into cutting edge technology?

Erik, the article you quote from is over 1 year old and was written prior to the ERIK settlement. Unfortunately, it could be published again today and still be accurate. It shows how little progress has been made on international standards and migration paths to 3G.
