Hi Sue, all:

I have ordered a new Quantex notebook, and decided to accept only the 64mb that's standard and get another 128 mb much cheaper.

This particular model - the W series - is too new for the memory resellers like Crucial et al to have it listed. this brings up the question as to how many varieties of notebook RAM exist.

Is RAM chip style unique to each manufacturer, or are there only two or three varieties out there.

My notebook comes with 64MB of non-parity, non ECC PC100 memory on a BX board.

TIA peter

Be great if I can make the Matrox/ATI multimonitor setup work for half the Appian price!

Sure hope it works out OK and I'm sure it will. Quiet a savings.

http://www.allstarcomponents.com/faq.html, read below for those contemplating Dual MOBO. Could this be correct?

Q* I have a dual CPU motherboard but my system only registers one cpu?
A* Windows 95 & Windows 98 will not utilize the second processor on a dual motherboard. If you are using a dual CPU system Windows users need to install Windows NT.
