There is another solution for this. Trade in your IRA accounts, and revert to longer term holds in your taxable account. My wife does our taxes, and her complaints made me switch my tactics over in order to take some of the headaches away at tax time. We have five accounts between us, and the only one that is a problem is the taxable account. Now, if only we can elect a Republican President, perhaps we could get rid of these capital gains taxes. If it happens, end of problem.
