Hi Monica, this makes it 2 for 2 for Intel in these big companies give their employees PCs programs. I wonder if part of it is that AMD has not been selected by any corporations to speak of, so they just go Intel. Sheep, good sheep. On another thread, it came out that HP buys Fords for their regular sales people as company cars (exception: Carly gets a Jag). So it was one hand washes the other when Ford chose HP.

Drop in more often, when you can.

Tony

Monica - it seems to me that besides being a pretty neat affinity marketing program, this may be the way to reach large numbers of the computer illiterate in the US (and maybe, if it spreads, in Europe etc). Beyond Intel and the boxmakers and ISP's that may benefit, development of the entire Internet infrastructure may expand at even faster rates. We might need to look way beyond INTC on this. Put the first box in every "blue collar" home and the seconds and thirds will follow with the kids. Fabulous, John

According to the following article, the Delta Employees will be receiving PCs with 500 MHz Intel Celerons inside from some company called PeoplePC.

Both Ford and Delta are going through People PC.

People PC is one of the $25/month-includes-the-PC ISPs (through UUNET). They also offer $10/month internet access but there's nothing about it on their web site. I got a CD from them a week or so ago with the $10 offer but I haven't installed it yet to check them out. With all the new business UUNET will be getting through this I'm a little worried that their service will deteriorate.
