Aus:

I've been using the Kodak kiosk at my local Moto Photo for some time now. I plug my CF into its PCMCIA adapter, plug the adapter into the kiosk and I can make a 11 x 17 print for like $10. I can make put as many photos as I want in different sizes as long as they fit on the 11 x 17. The kiosk then prints out the sheet.

The real crux of the HP-Kodak deal is that Kodak recognizes that people are skipping the photoprinting process and just using their home printer with photo quality paper. Kodak is trying to develope a vertical lock on what they now recognize will be continuing losses in their photo finishing business (actual they spun this off some time ago to Kodalux).

The NPR guy misses the point - people won't need to bring the digital photos to any location other than their own photo quality printer.
