Rich, Possible problems with your hookup:

1)v90 is the standard, not flex56. You can download the updated driver from your modem manufacturer
2) Your phone lines are old and crusty. I had that problem in my other house. Went to cable and loved it. It could be with your phone co, or the lines within your house. Also any static or noise will keep you from hooking up. The phone co. will come out and test you lines for free.
3)It could also be your dial up number. IF they offer several to chose from you can try another number and see if that helps.

If they offer cable in your area I'd suggest it. The best $50 a month you can spend, except for DWA...that's the best deal on the planet IMO.

A Seminar re-cap would be great!!
