Thanks Carey and Sarmad. I added the symbols to my disk drive stock list at the site I am putting together. I am better able to research and follow sector moves in this fashion.

Thanks again, Sender

Here is a weekend report on disk drive pricing from a sample of retail distributor drives. The drives include 348 samples from 6 different distributors.

Disk drive prices remained stable last week.

Weekly average price change
Weighted desktop --- down 0.2%
Less than 11gb --- up 0.2%
11gb to 21gb --- down 0.4%
Greater than 21gb --- down 4.3%
Enterprise --- down 0.4%

Monthly average price change
Weighted desktop --- down 1.3%
Less than 11gb --- up 0.1%
11gb to 21gb --- down 1.1%
Greater than 21gb --- down 4.3%
Enterprise --- up 0.3%

Quarterly price change (monthly rate)
Weighted desktop --- down 1.2%
Less than 11gb --- even
11gb to 21gb --- down 1.2%
Greater than 21gb --- down 3.7%
Enterprise --- up 0.3%

Last Quarterly price change (monthly rate)
Weighted desktop --- down 1.6%
Less than 11gb --- down 0.8%
11gb to 21gb --- down 1.6%
Greater than 21gb --- down 3.0%
Enterprise --- down 1.6%

This is the largest weekly drop in SCSI drives (enterprise) for the quarter. It was influenced by a large drop in the prices of Western Digital SCSI drives. Western Digital announced they were dropping out of the market for enterprise drives. Maxtor also dropped out of the enterprise market, however, they did not have enough samples in the data to have influence.

We have yet to see the seasonal price drop that normally occurs at the end of the 4th calendar quarter. Last year we experienced seasonal price drops in two parts. One price drop occurred in mid December and one occurred at the end of January.

Regards,
Mark
