>> Would it have been wise for Henry Ford to divert some of his energy from his assembly line to build an oat plant

No. Henry Ford did well because he more quickly produced a quality product and was able to get it out to the masses.

"Because of his development of the assembly line used to mass produce automobiles, Ford sold more than one half of the cars in the industry in 1918-1919 and 1921-1925."

Ford Said, "I will build a motor car for the great multitudes constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the SIMPLEST DESIGNS that modern engineering can devise . . . so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one and ENJOY WITH HIS FAMILY the blessing of hours of pleasure in God's great open spaces." Ford's initial goal was to build a family car of simple design -- he wasn't initially out to build a car to break the land speed record!!

>> second , you are working towards making CKFR a front end company.

I can see CKFR going either way. In fact, that is what CKFR is doing today. I have no problem with this. But if CKFR's goal is to be the back end provider of choice, I think augmenting CKFR to: 1) Receive bills from any biller and 2) provide "smart pay" functionality, would make it more attractive as a back end service. Front end services want back end services that best satisfy their customers.

Note: While the smart pay functionality doesn't do much to attract banks, it would help draw customers away from banks to front end providers like portals. This would be good as a hedge against bank ventures like SPECTRUM that are trying to take CKFR out of the loop and take over the EBPP industy.
