voop: You may well be right. But remember that even with WCDMA or CDMA 2000, HDR gives major benefit.

In other words, the arrival of 3rd gen does not eliminate the advantage that HDR has. For the most efficient system they work side by side.

The advantage of HDR is most obvious before the 3rd gen, since it permits faster data sooner.

But the beauty of Dr Viterbi's brainchild is his vision (and his making possible in practice) voice and data side by side on separate tracks (channels) - or even at separate frequencies - so the the efficiency and quality for each is maximized.

That is so regardless of "generation" .

Again, this is what I understand. May have it wrong, but I don't think so.

Best.

>> Fortress Europa to quote you will have prevented an beachhead I fear.

I believe cdma is quietly making its presence felt in Market Europa. Ruff posted a news link about a month ago showing an initiative by Lucent & OneTel that involves a $20B infrastructure 3G build out for Europe. And as we all know (but should remind ourselves on a regular basis) 3G = CMDA.
