JXM, when I have spoken to either Bellsouth or Flashcom they told me no service available because I am 2000 feet past the copper structure. But I thought they said in total I am 20,000 feet away which is certainly less than your 2 mile limit. In the meantime my cable provider is Comcast they don't know when they will service this area. Very frustrating waiting for downloads. Thje same downloads at work on a IDSL are a pleasure.
