You can put a shortcut to a program in the Quick Launch portion of your taskbar.

Right-click an empty area on the taskbar, click Toolbars, and then make sure that Quick Launch is selected.

I put shortcuts to several of my most frequently used programs ( ie, notepad, my documents folder, my computer, etc. )on the quicklaunch taskbar at the bottom of the screen for one click access.
