"Amazon Files to Sell Euro Convertible Notes"

Surely these aren't floorless, right? No way. Not mighty Amazon! For a minute there, I thought I was reading a BB press release. ;-)

Monday February 7, 3:38 am Eastern Time

NEW YORK, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Online retailing giant Amazon.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMZN - news) on Monday said it would file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to sell up to 600 mln of euro denominated convertible subordinated notes due 2010.

No further clarification was initially forthcoming.

The statement from the Seattle-based company said the notes and shares of the common stock of the company issuable upon conversion of the notes are covered by the company's existing shelf registration statement.

The total excludes proceeds, if any, from the over-allotment option, the comany said.

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is leading the underwriting group which will market the notes to the public.
