it was less than a years production in the case of NEM. The hedge limits their profitibility, doesn't eliminate it.

The bad thing about their hedge is that it is forward a couple or three years. They sold calls and bought some puts -- the hit they took was because somebody told them they needed to mark to market the hedge during the spike last year.

Does anybody know what they've done since? I would think that the negative reaction they received would have been enough for them to offset some of the hedge in the recent weak period ...
