John, I've seen arguments that say, in corporate Intranets, that if you put it on the server(s), it really should also go on all the workstations (PCs) on the network or you don't get the benefit of it. Keep our eye out for some massive purchase orders like the Ford - HP PC one (with Intel inside all of them). Some corporate Intranets have thousands of PC's connected.

I mean this O/S (W2K) is to be used in conjunction with a server. The desktop version is 6 mos. away

I'll have to disagree with you on this one, John.

Windows 2000 Professional is worth the upgrade whether you're upgrading your server(s) or not. Even without a Windows 2000 server on the backend, you'll still get the following benefits:
- Rock solid
- Fast
- Excellent power management for laptop users
- Native support for new types of hardware (USB, DVD, PCCard, etc)
- Plug and Play

Etc, etc.
