ikj-- if you could document the use of these antennae for mobile communications it would be appreciated.

From ArrayCom's website:
i-BURST technology will transform data communication by making portable broadband wireless IP connectivity ....
("portable", not mobile)

From the most recent applicable link found on Lucent's website (Bell Labs release 3/99):
Although these spectral efficiencies are impressive, it should nonetheless be stressed that these are early research results which are not yet commercially applicable, and numerous significant technical impediments and caveats apply. It is not even clear yet that the BLAST approach could be successfully applied in the difficult outdoor cellular environment. Initial application areas are much more likely to be indoor LAN or fixed wireless loop, and even these potential applications depend on a propagation environment having sufficiently rich multipath scattering. Nevertheless, the demonstrated efficiencies are so much higher than can be achieved using traditional techniques that we feel new ground has been broken, and the potential is there for BLAST to become a paradigm-shifting wireless communication technology that may drive new applications which were unthinkable at conventional spectral efficiencies.

If you have knowledge or access to more recent technical information, please reference it for me. Thanks.
