RE: FC Switching

Buck,

<<Personally, I don't believe that there is enough revenue relative to the big stuff (storage) on the PO to bother>>

My point really was that the Big Boys can easily insist on dual sourcing the switches, i.e. interoperability. What would they be giving up by insisting on FibreAlliance compatability (or some other interop standard)? It seems this would eliminate any hope of Gorilla gaming.

What is your take on the size of the enterprise switching market? Ashok Kumar of Piper Jaffrey is on record saying this could be half the market (# of ports) within a few years, and is a current weakness of Brocade's offering. The storage market is now seen by many as a NAS market and a SAN market, with separate royalty plays. Do you think the same might happen in FC switching: Departmental and Enterprise FC Switch royalty plays?

BTW, I'm curious, did you have an interest in the NHL before the Stars moved to Dallas? Norm Green still gets cursed around here for his decision to move the Minnesota North Stars out of the state. It might have been good for the NHL, but not for this area.
