Loudcloud Bases New Internet Infrastructure Services on EMC Enterprise Storage Systems and Software; Joins EMC Proven E-Infostructure Program
HOPKINTON, Mass., and SUNNYVALE, Ca. , Feb. 7, 2000 - EMC Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise storage systems, software and services, and Loudcloud, Inc., the new smart software Cloud™ services company, today announced that EMC will provide information storage solutions for Loudcloud's infrastructure services. Founded by Marc Andreessen and a team of former Netscape executives, Loudcloud, which unveiled its services today builds and runs Smart Clouds™, a suite of software, infrastructure and Web operations services that form the foundation of high-growth Internet businesses' web sites.
EMC also announced today that Loudcloud has been accepted as a member of the EMC Proven E-Infostructure Program. This Internet infrastructure program, announced in October 1999, defines the highest standards for information availability, scalability and management. EMC Proven provides Internet-based businesses and service providers with a way to communicate the inherent value of their investments in information infrastructure to customers and investors.
