Daniels signs five-year deal Phillip Daniels, the free-agent defensive end who led Seattle with nine sacks last season, signed with the Bears on Saturday. Daniels agreed to a five-year contract worth $25 million, including an $8 million signing bonus. The 6-foot-5, 284-pound former Georgia star had 45 tackles and a forced fumble in 1999. He has increased his sack total in each of his four NFL seasons. "I think Chicago is a great city," Daniels said during a news conference at Halas Hall. "I came here to play last year when I was at Seattle and I told a friend I might be coming here next year. I don't know what made me say that, but I had a feeling this team would be looking at ends and I might be coming here." ... Wide receiver Marcus Robinson re-signed with the Bears. He will get a four-year deal worth $14.5 million. Robinson was a fourth-round draft choice from South Carolina in 1997 but he caught only four passes for 44 yards and one touchdown in his first two seasons. However, last year he emerged as one of the best receivers in the league. He caught 84 passes for 1,400 yards and nine touchdowns. The Bears made his signing one of their off-season priorities. "I always felt good things come to those who wait," Robinson told the Chicago Tribune. "I waited in the shadows but the Bears gave me the opportunity to play. I knew they had confidence in me.
