would you know whether it is true, as i have read on one of these threads, that lu has been 66 months trying to perfect an OC-192 product?

I think the reason Nortel has the lion's share is that they started first (Now that is the sort of blindingly obvious stuff that has made Gilder's reputation). When everyone else realized that is is a today market, not a 2002 market, the rush by many people to ready products which are at least capable of carrying OC-192 signals created some shortages of components and test equipment. The latter is the most believable, especially since this stuff has to pass Bellcore and NEBS ccompliance. If you can't test it, you can't ship it.
