They DON'T unwind. As time goes onward, they 'deliver' production.

You're talking about recent history - they've 'done great' in every range for the last 15 years or more! And BTW they haven't actually done so great in the range you mention - at least in the last year. You mentioned Pasqua in a recent post with a cost of around $1 billion - I don't see how a project of that magnitude can fly without some sort of hedging - and from now on gold may be extremely volatile which will make hedging for major projects all the more necessary.

Hutch - I think you're ignoring sentiment - the POG may well go to higher plateaus because the sentiment has changed - more than most investments gold is affected by this.
