There is no way they can unwind their 18 million oz position overnight. They DON'T unwind. As time goes onward, they 'deliver' production.

"They do great with gold mired in the 250-325 range" You're talking about recent history - they've 'done great' in every range for the last 15 years or more! And BTW they haven't actually done so great in the range you mention - at least in the last year. You mentioned Pasqua in a recent post with a cost of around $1 billion - I don't see how a project of that magnitude can fly without some sort of hedging - and from now on gold may be extremely volatile which will make hedging for major projects all the more necessary. Hutch - I think you're ignoring sentiment - the POG may well go to higher plateaus because the sentiment has changed - more than most investments gold is affected by this.
