Mike have you noticed that Siebel's product line is now branching out into 'niches' of the CRM field? There was a write-up about Siebel fine tuning their product for the government sector etc.. This is classic "assimilation and variation phase" of the main street (p. 37 TRFM) where the technology stops worrying so much about conquering the sector as they do "creating minor variations on those standards to enhance particular applications." These "variations are what now occupy the market's interest."

Also of interest is Siebel partnering with another company (I don't remember their name right now) to publish "Siebel books". Basically books that will be published and found in your basic big book resellers to teach 'common folk' like you and I about the Siebel CRM package and the "Siebel way" of implementing CRM (gosh and just think Siebel just got into the customer service side of CRM just a couple of years ago and now they are the experts.. <g> You do have to grin at this... anyway..).

I think we are on main street now Mike. Siebel is looking for variations/niches to CRM they can migrate into and CRM is going out into the main stream in book form. Gosh... we're just another standard 'app' now.. :-)
