JDN-- two things to answer your post. At this time RW CD drives are not able to copy movies. I am not sure if they would be downloadable butguess they would be. The only reason for current protection is the studios want to be certain they get their $$ from each copy. Since the charge would include royalties that should be very possible and probable.
The biggest rev generator is music. Some of the hardest hit sites now are MP3 sites where music is downloaded. These are not your big stars and the cost is minimal or nothing. When the major recording studios are able to capture $$ from their CDs or even by saving to the hard drive there will be a lot more useage. That is part of the reason for such large drives at this time. I have 27 gig on one of mine and without music or movies it will never get anywhere near maxed out. Pictures are another huge user of drive space-- with all the digital cameras on the mkt and photo processors able to download processed film-- the list is endless...
