Paterno said that Fran Ganter will assume the new title of assistant head coach. Tom Bradley, defensive secondary coach since 1996, will take control of the Penn State defense. "Under this new alignment, Fran will have additional responsibilities while continuing to supervise the offense," Paterno said. "Tom Bradley, a long-time member of our staff, has been a major contributor to our defensive schemes during his tenure here," Paterno said. "I believe Tom will do an outstanding job of leading our defense. Tom is an innovator and will bring exciting and creative ideas to our defensive scheme." Paterno said Al Golden and Bob White, both former Nittany Lion football co-captains, will join the coaching staff. Golden, an assistant coach at Boston College for the past three years, will become the linebackers coach. White has been a member of the PSU athletic department as an assistant to the athletic director. He will assist with the defensive line and handle special teams. Former defensive line coach Joe Sarra will move into an administrative role as assistant to the head coach for special projects. Among his areas of concentration will be sports camps, dealings with sports agents and professional teams, speaking requests for players and coaches, facilities management and athletic fund-raising. The Penn State skipper said that other coaching assignments for the 2000 season will be as follows: Dick Anderson - Offensive Line (Guards and Centers) Bill Kenney - Offensive Line (Tackles and Tight Ends) Kenny Jackson - Wide Receivers Larry Johnson - Defensive Line (Ends and Tackles) Jay Paterno - Quarterbacks
