SB, i have some 50 long positions, and naturally like them all <ggg>. let me explain my shorts first: these are simply index shorts (SPY & QQQ) hedged with calls. i also always carry a handful of OEX puts as a hedge.
two tech stocks i like right now (i.e. i bought them fairly recently) are HAXS and DCTI (both are in the process of receiving some attention from analysts). i also like VASO, a small medical instruments co. , which just had it's first profitable quarter.
KIDE may have more upside here, though i'd probably wait for a pullback. i just sold part of my position with a view to re-enter.
i trade lots of BB stocks, which are of course not for the faint of heart...one that may be worth considering here is LITH, a battery co.
i also like the gold stocks here, especially the South Africans. once again, i'd buy on pullbacks. gold is very volatile right now, but imo offers excellent long term prospects.

w/regards to my prediction, speculative blow-off first (still in progress on the Nasdaq), painful crash next. to time the downturn will be very difficult. however, i have no doubt that such a downturn will occur sometime this year. note that the Dow could fall to the 7500-8000 area and the long term bull market would still be intact.
i'd welcome a mini bear of that magnitude here to clean out speculative excess and provide a buying opportunity for the longer term.

regards,

hb
