OT Assembler code and saving memory

You're making my heart warm with this talk of core, subroutine parmlists, segments, and my all-time favorite, self-modifying assembler code. I picked up the gauntlet at the end of the 70s fresh out of high school, with the MFT/MVT/MVS days. Fortunately, there were a lot of crusty old systems programmers around who didn't mind showing an interested lad a trick or two.

I can still smell the 40 lbs. of green-bar paper and hot ink on my desk from a "core dump" after the system melted down. Ah, youth...
