Whether something needs to be proven depends upon the consequence of believing it. If it is harmless to believe, please yourself; if it is a matter of someone's freedom, prove beyond reasonable doubt..... Yes, politics begins with the muddling and imprecision, in a sense. But it is supposed to be that way, to ensure that there is a thorough airing of issues before anything is done..... Is there more incompetence nowadays? I don't know. But the trend to make it harder to keep track of responsibility is worrisome, indeed......
