Clarification: I picked a three years because I wanted to exclude the big drop in 1996 from $400, but I should have gone up to July 1997 when gold got down to $320ish. Since July 1997, it has been relatively sideways (enough for trading), with a slight downward bias, but NOTHING like the BIG drop.

P.S. I did a linear regression is the downward bias was 4.5 cents per day over the last 650 days - about $30
