LPTHA: Yes, Wes. It is as you say. It resembles sleep apnia. Sure glad we know the story. And I am quite happy that we are above 30 while expecting big news. I would love to see them release it while we are in the mid 30's or higher. . . that could be explosive. . . . Can't hardly wait to open the morning news. LPTHA is the closest thing I have seen to a JDSU this year. Today's news was reassuring that Japan's Hikari is spending big money to upscale their factory to accommodate the new LightPath orders. FROM NEWS RELEASE:The recently signed expanded alliance now provides for the manufacture by Hikari of products based on LightPath's proprietary technologies to be distributed in Asia. Under the agreement, Hikari will initially invest $5 million in their own operations to procure production equipment needed to implement the expanded alliance. Additionally, the agreement was modified to include products based on LightPath's proprietary, automated laser polishing and laser fusion processes. The distribution territory of Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore was expanded to include the rapidly growing markets in China, where Hikari already has a strong marketing and sales presence. One of the things that can hurt a small company is not being able to meet a growing demand. But AMP's old CEO knows this and is preparing the company for large scale output. . .[this is first news from CEO trip to Asia] . . .I expect there to be more. . . remember, there are a number of products. LPTHA has yet to even announce that there IS a demand for GRADIUM, yet their manufacturer is spending 5 million to upgrade its factory to accommodate LPTHA's orders. Because of this quiet period, we have yet to see a single announcement of a sale of GRADIUM products this year. . . .let alone their "secret weapon" product. . along with A.T.& T.'s LightChip. And once again, "all-optical networks" and "all-optical routers" will soon take the place of current networks and routers. . .this movement is expected to begin during the first quarter of 2000, according to Lucent. . . . . while "optical processors" are reportedly being designed to make current microprocessor technology as obsolete as the transistor and the vacuum tube. It really gets the wheels turning. I just hope that today's radical trading is not insider trading on Lucent or A.T. & T. wanting to buy up LPTHA. That would be dreadful. . . unless they are willing to pay a 3X premium [which is not entirely out of the question considering all these guys have going for them and the tiny 382 mil market cap]. In fact, a buyout at this point, is the single thing that worries me most. Shorts are of little concern, because we have been buying dips and selling peaks since the stock was $7. And there have been many nights where shorting LPTHA would have been wise. But with earnings coming out any day now, and tons of expected news to accompany it. . . and especially with today's break by the company of their quiet period. . . .a short play today could be suicidal. Reports from those attending last week's optical convention, confirmed our suspicions about coming announcements. And when will there be an announcement of a LC IPO? IMO, THIS is the most important week for this issue. If you are new here and are not in LPTHA. . .you are late. . .it is probably best to wait for the next one. . . we have plenty of great plays offered by our leaders here. . . . Rande Is
