What a day for me....

finance.yahoo.com

Picked up LBRT on gap up this morning. Thanks to this thread fro the courage to buy the stocks I really believe in and HOLD them.....My biggest mistake has been selling really great companies for what looked like a good profit. It is hard to tell the MOMO's with little intrinsic value from the companies that really deserve to skyrocket. This is the skill I am working at honing. Have not touched my LPTHA, NATS, ANTC, ANCR, LU. HOlding most of my WIND. It's just not worth the effort to me, trying to trade a stock when you buy a good company at a great price... Hate to go through the list of mistakes I made taking profits thinking I could buy back lower and then not buying back lower.

I like Rande's idea of using two different brokerage accounts, one for long the other for swings. This also makes tax-time easier as you don't have to worry about identifying lots to get the long-term tax rate on your LT investments.

One last thought... I am not a full-timer, don't have all day or the right psychology to watch over things like some of you. So this perspective only applies for those who just don't want to make that kind of commitment or who can't sleep at night with the ticker running in front of their eyes. Even then, this thread is unbelievably helpful. You just have to learn how to edit out what doesn't apply to you. I.E. the thread was focusing on trading out of NATS and into IAAC at one point. It was the perfect move. Instead, I just picked up some IAAC and held my NATS. Bought less IAAC that way. Profited much less, but I am so very happy with what I got.

Bottom line, find your style, trade your style, and don't envy others who have a different style. Congratulate them and then ask yourself... Am I doing well? Could I be doing better? Can I fit that other style into my life? You have to look at your life.... Rande's statement about trading things like ENBC to keep from getting bored just does not apply to my lifestyle.
Thanks so much Rande et al....

"Glad I had the guts to hold for the ride."

I am glad for you too. It takes real guts to do what you did. I think LPTHA will really pay off for you as you continue to hold it.

Happy Trading...

Yeah, I really had to question my judgement when I bought LPTHZ at 3 7/8 and it dropped to 2. In hindsight, I guess it worked out OK. <VBG>
