Re: after hours quotes... because they are all ECN limit orders, the spreads can often be exaggerated due to lack of trading interest. Some of the stocks I follow, after the close, will show no orders except for some Island quotes that I entered, perhaps hours earlier, with three or four point spreads depending on how the stock moved. So seeing 26 show up just means that's the only current limit order among the ECNs. It's not uncommon to see a quote of 22 x 0, for that matter, for a stock that closed at 24.

That said, I think we'll gap up tomorrow and while I haven't see the market since fifteen minutes past the close, I wouldn't be surprised by that 24 1/4 trade. One thing about today was that following an offer of 400 at 23 5/8 there was no sell interest in the stock, in contrast with the previous three weeks.
