Nutbar who has a robot arm or nutbar who forgets all after, or raging boyfriend, they all sort of fit.

Cocaine was the alkaloid that fueled John Wesley Harding and William Bonney. But even PCP or marijuana can release psychotic or sudden rage tendencies.

It is very important who was at the party and what too.

The criminal had to carry the knife with cold callous intent. This means no such weapon crime can be accidental and provoked. But provocation may have been sought. Stalking may have been in the MO. This information would be in a friend's complaint "database". Messages to the victim may be involved.

Lizzie Borden and such forget all by suppression, so that 15 minutes later they would pass any lie detector. The crime is performed in a dream like state and is done almost on a dare. After the mind wipes it out. So now the criminal is operationally psychotic. These may be opportunity crimes.

Some types are known to carry kitchen untensils. They are intensely paranoid and may have archetypeal (Jungian) fixated juvenile pentetration fantasies that are birth- trauma related. Such crime MO's may coincide with a release of a criminal on a day pass. (Very common I am afraid.)
