...So cynical Not towards ALTA in particular; it is my feeling that all i-net and technology companies are insanely overvalued. If AltaVista becomes a WallStreet success (reasonable possibility), it will have been done in a large part by the marketing prowess of CMGI. I don't think AltaVista had a chance of having an IPO without CMGI. ...adding audio, video and image-specific searches I just tried seaching for "panda.gif". Although the original way of searching returned more links, the new image-specific search returned more useful information and would have saved a significant amount of time as the images are displayed automatically with the search results. altavista.com AltaVista seems to have pre-saved all of these images in compressed form on a separate server, so that the images don't need to be downloaded from the original site.
