The morphing continues. Today's announcement - that Digital River will build an automated supply chain system for Coors Beer - is a whole new business. The world still thinks of DRIV as a digital download software company that might be worth buying when and if bandwidth explodes. But beneath the surface the company is quietly morphing into a B2B outsourcing firm for some of the biggest names.
This company really reminds me of Gemstar, another company that investors pigeonholed incorrectly as being just a interactive TV play when it was much more.
Somewhere I remember reading a description of DRIV as just a huge Oracle programming laboratory. I think Joel and the gang have shown us time and time again that they understand the word "leverage".
Now if the market would just get it.
