how can a linear regression identify a change in trend?


by looking at the sum of the differences to the regression line. When the trend changes the differences go up.

I was only using it to quantify some historical data.
I thought gold was "sideways" over the last 30 months, but it had a small downward bias.
I actually made a mistake and admitted it.
