NETsilicon Expands Presence in Southeast Asia;
Company Signs Channel Partners, Makes Key Hire from
Semiconductor Industry

Business Wire - February 08, 2000 08:18

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2000--NETsilicon, Inc. (Nasdaq:NSIL),
the leading provider of system-on-silicon connectivity solutions, today announced that the
company has expanded its presence in Southeast Asia through the establishment of several new
channel partnerships and the hiring of a sales manager with extensive industry experience in the
region.

NETsilicon has forged a relationship with Electec Pte. Ltd., a leading provider of component
solutions to Asian electronic OEMs, through which Electec will represent NETsilicon as a
distributor in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Electec will also
customize its own offerings around NETsilicon's NET+Works(TM) architecture as an
authorized developer. In the Korean market, NETsilicon has entered into an agreement with
Sunin Technology, a leading IT distributor. And, Destiny Technology Corporation, a leading
embedded technology design firm and distributor representing NETsilicon in a broad range of
industries throughout mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, has agreed to become a
NETsilicon authorized developer.

NETsilicon also appointed Yong Ho On, formerly a top product manager at Samsung, as the
company's first sales manager located in Southeast Asia. With thirteen years experience in the
semiconductor industry, Ho On will ensure that NETsilicon's new channel partners are
successful in selling the company's system-on-silicon connectivity solutions. Ho On will be
based in Seoul, South Korea.

"Manufacturers in Southeast Asia are clearly seeking total solutions, rather than software or
hardware-only components for making their products network-ready," stated David
McConaghy, NETsilicon's director of sales, Asia. "We are building a solid sales infrastructure
throughout Southeast Asia to provide these manufacturers with our NET+Works solutions. We
are pleased to be represented by Electec and Sunin, both well-respected firms in their regions.
Additionally, Electec and Destiny are committed to developing customized solutions around
NET+Works. The appointment of Yong as a full-time sales manager located in the region will
further ensure the success of these partners in driving our solution into this important growing
market."

Electec and Destiny will be the first NETsilicon authorized developers in their respective
regions. As such, these firms will be able to provide ready-for-market products based on
NETsilicon's connectivity solutions.

"NETsilicon is a great strategic partner for Electec," commented Mr. Rinsky Sng, Electec's
managing director. "Electec will not only resell NETsilicon's system-on-silicon network
connectivity solutions, we will rely on NETsilicon's technology to design customized devices or
tailored embedded solutions for customers."

"We are stepping up our commitment to NETsilicon this year," stated Eric Lee, president of
Destiny. "NETsilicon solutions make network-enabling devices very easy for OEMs. As a
NETsilicon authorized developer, Destiny will provide these solutions to customers and also
build customized, ready-for-market solutions based on NET+Works."
