That gucky sludge is (partly) silver bicarbonate decaying into silver hydroxide (AgOH) and silver carbonate quickly decaying into -- a sort of gel that is mostly silver salts. Collect it carefully, let it dry, and over time you can build up a tidy store of silver oxide. Contribute it to your favorite charity or revolutionary organization.
