Estephen:
I was thinking about two points and how they relate to how royalties may or may not be due on DDR.
1.) Intel pays no royalties on RMBS IP for the duration of the life of RMBS patents in consideration of Intel's investment in RMBS.
2.) Hitachi gets is ass sued on a wide range of DRAM products.
I think it is of GREAT IMPORTANCE to find out which of the 6 other major DRAM manufacturers have agreements with RMBS that mirror Intel's agreement where facets RMBS IP is utilized without little or no royalty payments to RMBS no matter how they use it in non RDRAM products. I would expect that companies like Samsung and Micron waved a bevy of their own patent filings at RMBS during royalty contract discussions in order to strike a contract that would prevent them from ever paying royalties to RMBS on IP that may be described in many of RMBS patents but which may be utilized in non-RDRAM products like DDR.
