Anyone including carriers must design their "Pures" with the easy elimination of copper dependence in mind. Att is not doing this. Others are. It's definitely a topic for another thread. "Pure" means fiber everywhere and onlywhere: No opto-electronic transformations of the signal stream. Complete "Pure" includes the desktop box circuitry. Optronic desktops will operate in petaflops, a thousand times faster than the fastest piece of junk we have crunching irrelevancies at Los Alamos.
